Thank you Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages for providing a complimentary stay for our family. All opinions are my own.
Tucked away surrounded by rolling hills and a plethora of tall trees, Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages is a place where families can unplug and reconnect without breaking the bank. They offer three different sizes of cabins, the largest sleeps 6-10.
Our cabin was perfect for our family makeup. My parents came along with us, so we had two areas that we could stay: a bedroom and a loft with 2 full bathrooms. Thank goodness for more bathrooms. It makes all the difference when you are traveling with so many people.
Canyon Lake is centrally located between Austin and San Antonio and minutes away from the ever so popular town of Gruene. We took the Lincoln Navigator (loaned to us by Ford) for a spin around this one-of-a kind town home to unique shops and restaurants.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at Canyon Lake. According to the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, this small town is known as the Water Recreation Capital of Texas. I believe it as there was no shortage of tubers on the lake during our visit. Let’s talk about the lake – it’s simply stunning. We rented a boat for a few hours to explore Canyon Lake and were not disappointed as the views are spectacular.
Once the crazy tubers and boaters settled, a wave of peace and calm rushed over me and I was soaking it in as much as possible. There’s something amazing about being on the open water surrounded by family and friends with a scenic backdrop.
Connecting with nature. Disconnecting with the world’s stressors. Something that ever family needs to do once in a while.
Have a large group? No problem! Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages can accommodate a large gathering of people including reunions and weddings.
Easily-bored children? No problem! For outdoor fun, there is not a shortage of activities. Enjoy the on-site swimming pool hidden amongst the trees or play the life size Connect 4 game, ladder golf, corn hole, and horseshoes. For indoor fun, there is a huge collection of DVDs to rent from the office and yes there is access to Wifi, but try not to let the kids know.
Know before you go to Canyon Lake Cabins
Each cabin has their own grill or you can share a larger common space to grill in the middle of the property. Remember to bring charcoal for the grill.
Canyon Lake Cabins comes equipped with the cooking utensils, towels, toilet paper, coffee maker and full kitchen. Guests provide everything else.
The cabins are very close to each other. If you are looking for extreme privacy, this may not be the best option for you. However, this would the spot to host a family reunion. There were two family reunions happening during our stay and everyone was having a blast. Our family has no problem making new friends, but if you seek extra privacy and more space you might consider staying in the Outback section instead of the front area.
Located 5 miles from the property, the nicest Brookshire Brothers I have ever seen has live bands playing on their back patio every Friday and Saturday night. Great option if you would rather buy groceries once you arrive or if you forget something.
If you are seeking a family getaway that encompasses a summer camp feeling without breaking the bank Canyon Lake Cabins is the place for you. Sometimes you have to travel 300 miles away to experience family bonding at its finest. I wouldn’t have witnessed my daughter hugging my cousin like this. (He was traveling with his family nearby. I found out thanks to Facebook!)
You simply cannot beat the family fun you will experience in this beautiful lake city cabin getaway.
