Thank you Mayfield Creamery for sponsoring today’s sprinkled waffle bowls recipe.

Sprinkles bring extra flair to any ice cream dish. Because my daughter and I are obsessed with unicorns, we decided to transform our boring waffle bowls into a spectacular ice cream masterpiece. Here’s one way to combine your love for ice cream and unicorns into one delicious treat.

How to make unicorn sprinkled waffle bowls

DIY Sprinkled Ice Cream Waffle Bowls Ingredients/Supplies

  • Yellow, Orange, Purple, Blue, Pink Candy Melts (enough to fill out your bowls for waffle bowls and cones like shown below)
  • Waffle Bowls and Cones (various sizes)
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Mayfield Creamery Ice Cream to go inside (any flavor)
  • Microwaveable bowls
  • Cookie sheet with parchment paper liner

Instructions to make unicorn dipped ice cream bowls

Making these sprinkled waffle bowls is simple to make.

First, find a microwavable bowl that is big enough to place your waffle cone inside.

Next, place candy melts in bowl rotating different colors as shown above.

Place bowl in microwave and heat in 30 second increments. Do not try to heat longer as it could dry it out. In between each heating cycle, poke the candy melts with a spoon but do not mix too much as the color will produce a slightly brown color.

Place waffle bowl into the melted candy mixture. Turn the bowls around and on its side to cover with candy melt mixture.

Then, immediately place waffle bowl into your sprinkles to completely cover the outer shell. The more candy mixture you place on your cone, the more room you have to sprinkle your bowl.

The same process will work for smaller ice cream cones. Simply place candy melts in a smaller bowl and repeat steps above.

Spinkled ice cream conesOnce your bowls and/or cones are completely covered with sprinkles, place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place cookie sheet in refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the sprinkle mixture to set.

Finally, take out of the fridge, fill with delicious scoops of Mayfield Creamery Ice Cream and serve! Don’t forget to eat your waffle bowl too! It packs a boost of flavor thanks to the sprinkles.

Sprinkled waffle bowls dish makes me want to host an Ice Cream Social. Eating ice cream is always better with others. That’s why I have to share the amazing deliciousness that is known as Mayfield ice cream.  Get creative with your candy melt colors and sprinkles to serve year round at various holiday parties!

Where to find Mayfield Creamery Ice Cream

Mayfield offers signature and classic ice cream flavors such as my favorites: Sea Salt Cheesecake, Moose Tracks and Lemon Ice Box Pie (as shown in our dish). They offer various ice cream flavors to satisfy individuals’ cravings. Find a store near you. Here in Dallas, you can find it at Tom Thumb and Albertsons.

Another winning combo? Mayfield Ice Cream and Baseball

What says “summer” more than going to a local baseball game — except maybe combining baseball with cold, tasty ice cream? Our family enjoyed a night out watching baseball, eating delicious food and exploring all the park has to offer.  Be sure to visit the Mayfield Creamery vending area in Section 119.  That is where I found Mayfield’s Moose Tracks® flavor. It’s fudge blended into their Signature Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups.

How to save money at a Frisco Roughriders game

Dallas readers, head to your local Tom Thumb store and get a free Frisco RoughRiders ticket with the purchase of Mayfield Creamery ice cream. It’s that simple!

Summer, ice cream and baseball make my heart happy! Don’t miss out on a fun yet simple way to bond with your family through food and games. Tell me, what is your favorite ice cream flavor?
