Sprinkles bring extra flair to any ice cream dish. Because my daughter and I are obsessed with unicorn party ideas, so we decided to transform our boring waffle bowls into a spectacular ice cream masterpiece. Here’s one way to combine your love for ice cream and unicorns into one delicious treat.
Yellow, Orange, Purple, Blue, Pink Candy Melts (enough to fill out your bowls for waffle bowls and cones like shown below)
Waffle Bowls and Cones (various sizes)
Rainbow sprinkles
Mayfield Creamery Ice Cream to go inside (any flavor)
Microwaveable bowls
Cookie sheet with parchment paper liner
Instructions to make unicorn dipped ice cream bowls
Making these sprinkled waffle bowls is simple to make.
First, find a microwavable bowl that is big enough to place your waffle cone inside.
Next, place candy melts in bowl rotating different colors as shown above.
Place bowl in microwave and heat in 30 second increments. Do not try to heat longer as it could dry it out. In between each heating cycle, poke the candy melts with a spoon but do not mix too much as the color will produce a slightly brown color.
Place waffle bowl into the melted candy mixture. Turn the bowls around and on its side to cover with candy melt mixture.
Then, immediately place waffle bowl into your sprinkles to completely cover the outer shell. The more candy mixture you place on your cone, the more room you have to sprinkle your bowl.
The same process will work for smaller ice cream cones. Simply place candy melts in a smaller bowl and repeat steps above.
Once your bowls and/or cones are completely covered with sprinkles, place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place cookie sheet in refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the sprinkle mixture to set.
Finally, take out of the fridge, fill with delicious scoops of Mayfield Creamery Ice Cream and serve! Don’t forget to eat your waffle bowl too! It packs a boost of flavor thanks to the sprinkles.
Sprinkled waffle bowls dish makes me want to host an Ice Cream Social. Eating ice cream is always better with others. Get creative with your candy melt colors and sprinkles to serve year-round at various holiday parties! Craving more treats? Consider making this unicorn popcorn recipe.
