What are the different types of milk for making a milkshake?
Choose from various types of milk depending on your personal preferences and dietary needs. Remember, the type of milk you choose will influence the taste and texture of your milkshake.
- Dairy Milk: The most common choice for milkshakes is cow’s milk, which comes in different fat percentages such as whole milk, 2% reduced-fat milk, or skim milk. Whole milk provides a richer and creamier texture, while lower-fat options offer a lighter taste.
- Plant-Based Milk: If you prefer a non-dairy option, there are several plant-based milks available. Almond milk, soy milk, and oat milk are popular choices. These alternatives can be found in various flavors and offer different consistencies. Keep in mind that the flavor and texture of your milkshake may vary slightly when using plant-based milk.
- Lactose-Free Milk: For individuals who are lactose intolerant, lactose-free milk is a suitable option. It is cow’s milk that has been treated with the enzyme lactase to break down lactose, making it easier to digest.
- Nut Milk: Nut kinds of milk, such as almond milk or cashew milk, can add a unique flavor profile to your milkshake. They are also a good choice for those following a vegan or dairy-free diet.
- Coconut Milk: Creamy and slightly sweet, coconut milk can add a tropical twist to your milkshake. It pairs well with flavors like chocolate, vanilla, or tropical fruits.
Supplies
- Blender
- Ice cream scooper
- 2 16-ounce glasses: Chill the glasses in the freezer while you make the milkshakes.
Instructions
To start add gingersnap cookies to the blender and pulse to crush the gingersnaps. Save a small amount out of the blender to use as a garnish to sprinkle on top of your milkshake.
Add graham cracker crumbs to the rim of the glass for added flair. Simply melt almond bark in a microwave-safe dish. Dip the chocolate and then into the crushed cookie crumbs. Place in the freezer.
Add the ice cream, milk, and seasonings. Blend for 30-45 seconds or until completely smooth. If you are struggling to form a smooth mixture, add more milk.
Pour the milkshake into two frozen glasses.
Top with whipped cream, a Gingerbread man cookie, and cinnamon sticks, if desired. Insert a holiday straw and enjoy!
Get ready to taste your new favorite gingerbread dessert! It’s so easy you may have to make it more than once this holiday season.

- Use freshly baked gingerbread cookies as the topping. There’s nothing quite like warm freshly baked cookies.
- Garnish with additional candies like peppermints.
