Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats are tasty
Rice Krispie treats are a fan favorite. Transform rice krispie cereal bars into easter egg rice krispie treats that are in an Easter egg shape. The best part of this recipe is experimenting with all the different fun colors. Each marshmallow treat looks unique and different. Your Easter dessert table isn’t complete until you have included these rice krispie easter eggs.
Ingredients
Makes 18 Easter Eggs
- 4 ½ Tbsp Butter + 1-2 Additional Tbsp
- 7 ½ cups mini marshmallows (about 1 ½ bags)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1-2 cups white candy melts
- Easter Sprinkles
- Food Coloring – three different colors
Rice Krispie Easter Treats Ingredient Notes
- Fruity pebbles – replace Rice Krispies cereal with fruit pebbles for multi-colored eggs.
- Candy melts – use more than one color and place them in different bowls for a variety of bright colors!
- Food coloring – Use gel food coloring to get brighter colors on your treats.
Instructions
- Place 1 ½ Tbsp Butter and 2 ½ Cups marshmallows in a large saucepan on medium low heat, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth.
- Add in a few drops of food coloring and stir until well incorporated, add more colors to reach the desired color.
- Remove from heat and add in the cereal. Mix until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Scoop out the rice krisipie mixture in approximately 1/4 cups, add butter or nonstick spray to the palms of your hands and fingers so that the sticky mixture doesn’t stick.
- Scoop out the mixture in approximately 1/4 cups, butter the palms of your hands and finger so that it doesn’t stick.
- Press the rice cereal mixture into egg shapes and place them on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper to cool. Continue until the entire mixture is shaped into eggs.
- Repeat this process with the next two colors.
- Place the candy melts in a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl and melt until smooth.
- Place your sprinkles in a shallow dish.
- Dip each egg halfway into the chocolate and then sprinkle with sprinkles. Place on wax or parchment paper to cool.
- Repeat with additional eggs until all of them have been dipped and covered with sprinkles.

- For less sugar, omit sprinkles and candy melt mixture.
