How to make Christmas Chex Mix
Like I mentioned, making this recipe is super easy. It’s so simple, my own kids got in to help me make this treat. It was fun to see them in action. Also, did you know that this recipe is also called Christmas Puppy Chow? If you search puppy chow party recipes online, you will see a variety of Chex mix recipes like my Valentine’s Puppy Chow recipe. No idea why it’s called that, but it’s fun to come up with different variations of the classic recipe.
Christmas Party Mix Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows
- 1 cup of mini pretzel twists
- 15 oz vanilla coating (almond bark) (About 9 cubes)
- 3 tablespoons holiday-colored sprinkles or nonpareils
- 1 cup holiday-colored candy-coated chocolate candies like M&Ms
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
Christmas Puppy Chow recipe instructions
- Line large rimmed cookie sheet with waxed paper. In a large bowl, mix cereal, marshmallows, and pretzels.
- In a medium microwaveable bowl, microwave candy coating uncovered on high 60 – 90 seconds, stirring after 1 minute until almost melted.
- Mix well.
- Spread on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles. Cool completely
- Break into bite-size pieces.
- In a 2-gallon resealable food storage bag, add coated cereal pieces and powdered sugar. Seal bag and shake to coat.
- Remove from the bag.
- In a large serving bowl, mix coated cereal mixture and showcase candies.
