OREO Cookie Mold
Oreos
Lollipop sticks
Wilton Orange Candy Melts
Black Decorating Icing
Shortening or Coconut Oil (to thin the candy melts to make it smoother to coat the cookies)
How to make basketball lollipops with Oreos
First, place candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
Make sure you follow the instructions on the back. I highly recommend thinning the candy melts with shortening or coconut oil to make it easier to spread on the cookies.
Some say you can dip the OREOs in the melt and coat it front and back. I found that method to be challenging, so I used a Cookie Mold made specifically for coating cookies in candy melts. I spooned the candy coating at the bottom of each slot then dropped a cookie on top of it.
Then, I poured the candy mixture on top of the cookie until completely covered. (Sorry, I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of that process because I was trying to fend off a toddler and a dog. I can only do so much multitasking!)
Completely cover the cookies with the candy coating – don’t be scared!
Place the cookie tray in a freezer until cookies are completely solid.
Once they are solid, pop each cookie out and set aside. Now, place the lollipop stick in the center of each OREO in the filling portion. Be careful inserting the Lollipop sticks as the OREO could crack with too much force.
With a steady hand, draw the basketball artwork using black decorating icing. Draw a cross and two half circles on each side to get the basketball symbol. It does not have to be perfect! Believe me, if I can make it look somewhat good, I know you can!
