Why North Texas Jellystone Park is a Fun Family Getaway

North Texas Jellystone Park was just what our family needed to getaway for a few days.

It’s been four months since baby boy was born and cabin fever really was setting in. I really enjoyed staying home and soaking in all the baby snuggles. However, I was itching to get out and travel again with my family.

With the grandparents in tow, we discovered that North Texas Jellystone Park  was the perfect place to break our non-travel streak.

Although the site offers tent camping, we opted for a cabin stay because it’s hot right now and my baby needs to stay cool. Plus, sleeping in a bed isn’t such a bad idea.

Located in Burleson, TX, right outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area, North Texas Jellystone Park™ mixes traditional camping with glamping. Meaning everyone can enjoy traditional camping activities such as making S’mores, fishing, hiking, stargazing, etc while resorting back to comfortable and upscale cabins. We rented a golf cart to explore the grounds because the property is so large.

Plus, what kid doesn’t love a golf cart ride? That was my baby’s favorite experience. He stared at the tall trees in amazement.

If you are new to camping in general, this family friendly vacation spot is the perfect way to get introduced and addicted to this new found past time. (Hint: They have a fabulous gift shop and are located within miles to civilization if you forget anything).

What to expect during your North Texas Jellystone Park stay

A plethora of activity

There’s not a shortage of fun activities at the park. Guests can participate in everything or pick and choose what fun they want to get into. In between planned programs, there are simple games like Cornhole, Jenga and horseshoes.

Everything at the resort is well thought out and scheduled. If you are a family on the go that doesn’t want to keep up with paper schedules, then the text alerts are perfect! Throughout the weekend, reminders were sent to my phone via text with plenty of time to get to the assigned activity (thanks to our golf cart rental).

Since we have a baby, preschooler and teenager, my husband and I split up during some activities. He took my daughter to the waterpark while I stayed at the cabin for baby nap time, a photo session and shopping at the gift shop. Note that the Pirates Cove water park was only open that Saturday for campers since the swim season is winding down. Many activities are included with the camper’s stay; However, some activities require extra payment.

We also stayed behind to cook dinner while my husband took our oldest to hunt zombies! From arts and crafts to swimming to laser tag, there are so many different things to do for kids of all ages. There’s so much to do that a second trip or staying more than 2 nights would make sense.

Variety of lodging options

Guests can stay under the stars, claim an RV site, or stay in a cabin. We stayed in an upscale Ulrich 2 Bedroom Cabin.

This luxury cabin had plenty of space for all of us to sleep comfortably. There is 1 Queen Bed in each bedroom and 3 Queen mattresses in the loft area.

Opportunity to unplug

As a business owner, I’m always connected to my phone and internet. The resort has WiFi options but the connection was not strong where we were. Although some would see that as a negative, it was a blessing to us because it forced us to disconnect and spend quality time together – unplugged.

With the technology gone, we were able to focus on quality family time. We rode a fire truck, jumped on bounce houses, and explored the campsite. We cooked S’mores, played games, and did all the things that makes camping so much fun.

Plenty of photo opportunities

One piece of technology we did not get rid of was taking fun photos including a few selfies with Yogi Bear! Can you find all the fun Yogi Bear photo spots? Did you spot some in my video above?

Year round fun with theme weekends

Don’t be bummed if you weren’t able to make it to the park during the Summer because there is always something happening at the park.

Check out their upcoming theme weekends:

Gobble Till You Wobble Weekends

Boo Boo Bear “It’s Cold Outside” Weekends

Special deals

The park regularly offers special deals, such as local or military family discounts, gift certificates, holidays specials, and more. Sign up for special deals that will be emailed to you directly.

Day Camp Options

Perhaps, you want to have more fun another day and not stay the night. The park offers a day camp option that allows guests to enjoy the Activities Scheduled from open to close!

Do yourself and your family a favor – Put down the devices and head to this one-of-a-kind camping experience with Yogi Bear and friends. Jellystone Park in Burleson, TX proved to be a fun family adventure we will never forget.

No matter if you are an expert camper or rookie camper, this park offers something for everyone. Tent camping, cabin camping or RV is available to fit those needs. I felt like I was back at Summer Camp and I loved every second of it. It’s a great way to introduce your children to nature in an innovative and fun manner. We hope to go back soon when my toddler is a little bit older.

Happy New Year! This year was tough but we are so Happy New Year! This year was tough but we are so thankful for the extra time we spent together as a family. 2020 taught me a lot about myself and what kind of life I want to live right now and once the pandemic is over. Last year we hosted a party on NYE and I’m sure we opened a portal to this chaos. This year is much different. Tonight we will most likely be in bed by 10 pm and I am okay with that! We are currently in mismatched jammies at 5 pm. 😜 Cheers to a new year and whatever that will look like! I’m not picking a new word nor am I doing resolutions for the first time in years. I have no expectations but keeping hope alive that things will get better and we can gather and hug once again soon. Praying for those who are hurting and struggling right now. Things will get better... they simply have to! Let’s go, 2021.
