Now that my kids are on board with our morning routine checklist, I figured a mason jar organizer for the bathroom could help reduce stress in my life. This mason jar craft is a project that anyone can make with a few supplies and time. Sure, you can buy one already made at most retailers, but where is the fun in that?
Creating a Mason Jar Organizer has helped clear clutter so that I am able to quickly locate important bathroom essentials such as toothbrushes, cotton swabs and my make up brushes more quickly before they wake up. Once the kids are up, all bets are off for getting any more ‘me time’. Every minute saved from trying to locate random items is worth everything.
How to Make a Mason Jar Bathroom Organizer
Making a bathroom organizer is fairly simple with these few steps and minimal supplies. If you love to organize, you will appreciate our 31-day decluttering challenge.
Mason Jar Organizer Supplies
(4) Mason Jars (Consider painting the inside of the mason jars for added flair!)
Stain, Paint or Spray Paint (I used Radiant Metals Metallic Interior Paint by Valspar)
Sandpaper
Pallet or one 5/8″ x 4″ fence picket
3/4″ #8 wood screws
1/2″ #8 wood screws
3″ diameter Hose clamps that fit a mason jar lid (adjust if your mason jars are larger than 2.5″)
Mason Jar Bathroom Storage Instructions
Find an old pallet – (I found mine behind a large retail store. I asked for permission if I could have it.)
Cut 2 boards 18″ long out of the middle
Cut 2 more 5″ long
Lay the 2 – 18″ long boards horizontally one above the other
Place the 2 – 5″ boards vertically about 3″ from each end
Use 3/4″ wood screws screwing from the 5″ boards through to the 18″ boards so no screws show from the front side. Be sure to bury the screw head a little so screw is securely fastened into 18″ board.
Sand edges and front if needed to smooth out rough places
Paint, stain, or spray front of boards to your liking
Fasten a couple of picture hanger hooks on the back of 5″ boards for hanging later
Mark locations for hose clamps on front of boards spacing out accordingly
Drill holes through hose clamp and into wood so screws won’t crack wood when securing
Use 1/2″ wood screws to fasten hose clamps to wood planks
Place mouth of mason jars in hose clamps and tighten
