What ingredients do you need to make football potato skins?
This potato skin recipe is different than making them from scratch.
- Any frozen potato skins but I prefer Farm Rich Loaded Potato Skins
- Sour cream (1 cup)
- Optional: Add black olives and green onions to the top.
How to make football potato skins
Depending on how much time you have, there are several ways to heat the loaded potato skins. The best part is that there is little prep for this recipe. Farm Rich has already done the work for you with this frozen snack.
How to cook frozen potato skins in a conventional oven:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Arrange Loaded Potato Skins in a single layer on a baking tray and place them on the middle rack of the oven.
- Bake half box for 14-16 minutes or full box for 16-18 minutes.
Heating frozen potato skins in a toaster oven:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Arrange Loaded Potato Skins in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Bake 1-2 servings (2-4 pieces) for 13-15 minutes.
Heating frozen potato skins in a microwave
- Arrange Loaded Potato Skins in the center of a microwave-safe plate.
- Microwave 1 serving (2 pieces) on HIGH for 1 minute.
How to cook frozen potato skins in an air fryer
- Air fryer potato skins are delicious. Place the skins in the air fryer basket
- Air fry them at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-6 minutes.
- Remove and enjoy!
After the potato skins are heated it’s time to decorate them to look like little footballs. Using sour cream, draw lines that mimic a football. I scooped a few spoonfuls of sour cream into a plastic bag and then cut a tiny hole into the corner. Twist the bag and decorate using your hand as shown in the photo below.
It’s that easy! Serve potato skins at room temperature. Enjoy! Get ready for that delicious first bite of crunchy goodness.
Considerations
- Add green onions to the top of the crispy potato skins.
- Want to make homemade potato skins? Skip the frozen food option and follow this homemade loaded potato skins recipe. All you need is olive oil, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and russet potatoes.

Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days in a refrigerator. Reheat in microwave for 15-30 seconds or preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the pre-baked skins on a lined baking sheet. Bake until heated approximately 10 minutes.
