During our Girl’s Trip to Disney World, we had the opportunity to “drink around the world” at Epcot’s World Showcase. With no kids in tow, we could explore the different countries and enjoy a few adult beverages along the way. Some were great, while others we will most likely never purchase again. Needless to say, the entire experience was fun and a different way to celebrate my birthday!

Drinking Around the World at Epcot Guide
Epcot, located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, is known for its World Showcase, which features pavilions representing 11 countries from around the globe. These pavilions offer guests a chance to experience the culture, cuisine, architecture, and shopping of each nation. See Epcot Map. It’s also known as home to the “Drinking Around the World” experience.
What does it mean to “Drink around the World” at Epcot?
“Drinking Around the World” at Epcot is an activity that many guests participate in while visiting the World Showcase. This challenge involves having a drink (alcoholic for those of legal drinking age or non-alcoholic options for those who prefer or are under the legal drinking age) at each of the 11 country-themed pavilions that make up the World Showcase. The idea is to sample a beverage that is representative of or popular in each respective country, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of cultural tastes and experiences as they make their way around the lagoon.
Please note that the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival typically runs for several months, spanning from late August or early September to mid-November. During the festival, Epcot hosts a variety of events such as culinary demonstrations, beverage seminars, celebrity chef appearances, live music performances, and of course, food booths offering an extensive selection of dishes and drinks from different countries.
What are the countries are represented at Epcot?
The countries represented in Epcot’s World Showcase are:
- Mexico – This pavilion features a vibrant marketplace, the Gran Fiesta Tour starring The Three Caballeros, and several dining options including the San Angel Inn Restaurante.
- Norway – Home to the popular Frozen Ever After ride, which takes guests on a boat tour through the kingdom of Arendelle, and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.
- China – Features the Reflections of China 360-degree film, beautiful gardens, and the Temple of Heaven.
- Germany – Known for its Oktoberfest atmosphere, model train display, and Karamell-Küche, where you can find delicious caramel treats.
- Italy – Offers a taste of Italian architecture, fine dining, and street performances.
- The American Adventure – Hosts a patriotic audio-animatronics show, the Voices of Liberty a cappella group, and various American cuisine options.
- Japan – Features the serene Koi pond, Mitsukoshi Department Store, and Teppan Edo, a hibachi-style restaurant.
- Morocco – Offers a detailed recreation of a Moroccan city with intricate tile work, a bazaar, and Restaurant Marrakesh.
- France – Home to the impressive Impressions de France film, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, and several bakeries and restaurants like Chefs de France.
- United Kingdom – Features British architecture, a traditional pub, and the Rose & Crown Dining Room.
- Canada – Known for the Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360° film and Le Cellier Steakhouse, set in a wine cellar.
These pavilions are arranged around the World Showcase Lagoon and offer guests a unique opportunity to explore cultures from around the world in one visit.
Which country should you start at first?
The decision on where to start when “Drinking Around the World” at Epcot’s World Showcase can depend on personal preference, crowd levels, and the time of day you begin. However, two popular starting points are either Mexico or Canada, as these are located at opposite ends of the World Showcase Lagoon.
Starting in Mexico
- Advantages: Starting in Mexico, especially if you begin your day as the World Showcase opens, often means starting with a lighter crowd. The Mexico pavilion is indoors and has a vibrant, festive atmosphere that can be a fun kickoff. You can enjoy a margarita or tequila-based drink to start your journey.
- Considerations: If you’re not accustomed to strong drinks early in the day, starting with tequila might be a bit much for some. Consider pacing yourself with lighter options where available.
Starting in Canada
- Advantages: Beginning in Canada and moving towards the United Kingdom, France, and so forth can provide a more gradual start, perhaps beginning with beer or wine. For many, this might offer a gentler introduction to drinking around the world.
- Considerations: Depending on the time of year and events (like the Food & Wine Festival), some areas may become crowded as the day progresses. This could affect wait times at popular pavilions like France and Italy as you continue your journey.
Tips for an enjoyable experience
- Pace Yourself: Remember, there are 11 countries to visit, and staying hydrated and eating food along the way is crucial. Figure out your game plan and download our free Epcot Drinking Around the World Planner (at the bottom of the post)
- Share Drinks: It’s a good idea to consider sharing drinks with friends to sample more flavors without overindulging.
- Explore Non-Alcoholic Options: There are unique non-alcoholic beverages in each country (keep reading to check out our list), which can be a great way to participate without consuming alcohol at every stop.
- Be Mindful of the Time: Especially if you’re visiting during the summer or on weekends, starting earlier in the day can help avoid peak crowds and hotter temperatures.
- Enjoy the Culture: Take time to enjoy the performances, architecture, and ambiance of each pavilion. Drinking Around the World is as much about experiencing the cultures represented in the World Showcase as it is about the beverages.
Ultimately, whether you start in Mexico or Canada (or anywhere else), the key is to enjoy the cultural experiences each pavilion offers and to drink responsibly.

- Mexico Pavilion – Jarritos
The brightly colored, fruity flavors of Jarritos, a popular Mexican soda, are refreshing under the Florida sun. Look for flavors like tamarind, pineapple, and lime. - Norway Pavilion – Frozen Viking Coffee

While traditionally served hot, you can sometimes find it iced – a refreshing take on this sweet, mint-flavored tea that is a staple in Moroccan culture. - France Pavilion – Orangina
Orangina offers a lightly carbonated citrus beverage that blends orange, lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit juices, slightly pulpier than your typical soda. - United Kingdom Pavilion – Twinings Iced Tea
Enjoy a selection of iced teas from Twinings of London, available in various flavors. It’s a refreshing way to enjoy a classic British brand. - Canada Pavilion – Maple Popcorn Shake

Participants often spread this activity out over the course of a day to enjoy the experience responsibly. It’s important to stay hydrated, eat food along the way, and understand your limits. Remember, the aim is to appreciate the cultural offerings and enjoy the unique atmosphere of each pavilion, not to overindulge.
