- Total: Varies (30-45 minutes)
Equipment:
- 2 small microwave-safe bowls
- Parchment paper or wax paper
- 2 Piping bags
- baking sheet
- spoon
- spatula
What ingredients do you need to make Frankenstein Pretzel Rods?
- 10-12 Pretzel Rods
- 1-1/2 c. Green candy melts, reserve about 1/8 cup for later
- 1 tsp- 1 Tbs. paramount crystals (optional, but ideal)
- ½ c. Brown candy melts or chocolate chips
- Candy eyeballs – These can be found in most grocery stores in the baking aisle. For various sizes of eyeballs check out Amazon, Michaels, or Walmart.
- Optional: Halloween sprinkles (purple, green, orange, black). Bonus: This one includes the candy eyeballs.
How to make Halloween Pretzel Rods that look like Frankenstein
- Reserve about 1/8 cup of your green candy melts, and melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring in between each session. Remove bowl from microwave just before fully melted. Stir until smooth. Once you have the melted chocolate, the fun part begins.
- Add paramount crystals and stir until dissolved. This will thin out the chocolate so that it goes farther.
- Spoon the melted green candy coating onto the pretzel rods, and place them on the parchment paper to set. You can place it in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes to let it set faster.
- Once set, melt the chocolate, adding the paramount crystals as you did before.
- Place the melted chocolate into a piping bag. Cut a small hole in the tip of the bag.
- Pipe dots where the eyes go, and place the eyes on top. You may need to hold the eyes in place for a couple of seconds to make sure they stay firm.
- Pipe the hair on, and the wiggly mouth with the brown chocolate.
- Melt the remaining green candy melt and add it to a piping bag, and pipe on the stitches. Once dry, serve at room temperature.
- Place pretzel rods in a glass vase or tall glass on the dessert table for party guests to grab and go! They make great Halloween decor pieces.
