Can you believe that the back to school rush is here? What happened to our summer? It flew by. If you are like me you are scrambling to get prepared ahead of time. The most challenging part for our family is school meal planning. I welcome ways to streamline the food prep while avoiding spending a lot of money. Since I work from home now, I have to be more mindful of our budget. Eating at the school cafeteria frequently can add up financially so it’s crucial to start meal planning.
- Hillshire Farm lunch meat – fresh and tasty
- Ball Park hot dogs – a crowd favorite
- Jimmy Dean breakfast – a perfect start to the day
- Jimmy Dean fully cooked sausage – so incredibly easy to make
Of course you can create the classic back to school recipes or you can spice things up to avoid your children getting bored quickly. Let’s face it, they most likely got bored during the Summer so no need to hear that again so quickly. I created a simple finger-food back to school lunch kabob that I could customize to each of my child’s taste buds. So simple, anyone can do this!
Back to School lunch kabobs recipe
Hillshire Farm lunch meat Turkey Breast and Honey Ham
Mild cheddar cheese cut in blocks
Wash vegetables and set aside.
Slide ingredients in this order on each skewer: tomato, cheese, lunch meat and repeat order until the kabob is full to your liking. Tip: fold the lunch meat four times to get it to stay on the skewer properly.
Repeat until you have finished the amount of skewers you desire.
Consider switching out the lunch meat to get a variety of flavors.
