Thank you American Cleaning Institute (ACI) for sponsoring today’s post and sharing how spring cleaning is caring!
Cleaning in today’s world is taking on a deeper and more personal meaning as a way to ensure overall well-being. The benefits of a clean and healthy home are plentiful: lowered stress levels, improved productivity, and healthier living.
When we clean our homes we are caring for ourselves and those who live with us. With a clean and germ-free home, we can focus on more important things – like spending time with each other and making positive memories.
Cleaning is caring in so many ways and it’s bigger than just what we see inside our homes. By advancing the health and quality of life of people we are advancing our communities and our planet towards a vibrant and sustainable future. Ultimately, these efforts start at home.
Why spring cleaning is important right now
According to an ACI survey, Americans today view cleaning, disinfecting, and proper hygiene as a way to care for and ensure the health and safety of others. ACI’s recent study shows cleaning is here to stay and with great long-term benefits:
- 70% of Americans now view cleaning as a way to ensure the health and safety of themselves and their families, compared to 30% who view cleaning as just a chore.
- Since the pandemic began, more than half of Americans cleaned and disinfected to show they care for themselves and those around them.
- Nearly half of all Americans (42%) viewed cleaning for their mental health and wellness as more important in 2020.
- While cleaning to disinfect and kill germs was a primary reason to clean in 2020, this represented a significant shift from 2018 when only 7% of Americans reported the primary reason to spring clean was to prevent the spread of germs and illness.
