- Cutting Board – to cut fruits
- Serrated knife – to cut strawberries
- Medium bowl
- Mason jars, plastic cups with lids, or parfait cups with lids and spoons
Ingredients
Fresh fruits make up most of the simple ingredients in this recipe:
- 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt or low-fat yogurt
- 1/2 cup granola
- 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries
- Optional: red, white, and blue sprinkles for toppings
Ingredient Substitutions
- Sub low-fat yogurt for Cool Whip or a frozen light whipped cream topping. Make sure it’s thawed
- Add ¼ teaspoon almond extract or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla to the granola and yogurt mixture for added flavor.
- Make homemade granola ahead of time instead of grocery store products.
- Include fresh raspberries to add extra colors inside the parfait glasses.
- Add angel food cake as a layer.
- Make Cherry Jello ahead of time and add it as a layer.
How to make Patriotic Parfaits
Follow these simple instructions to make fun patriotic desserts:
- Mix granola with yogurt, and leave for 4-5 minutes.
- Put the mixture into glasses (molds)
- Wash the strawberries, cut them into small pieces, and spread them on a layer of granola with yogurt.
- Layer blueberries on top of strawberries
- Repeat the layers of the yogurt mixture until the parfait mixture reaches the top.
- Now for the best part – top with a final layer of strawberries, blueberries, and sprinkles. Don’t you just love all the patriotic colors on display?
How to store parfaits
Cover berry parfaits with plastic wrap and chill for up to 1 hour.
