You will absolutely cherish this preschool Valentine’s Day craft that my daughter and I made below. This is a great project to begin crafting with your toddler. It does require adult help with the writing and drawing, but my daughter was able to do the rest. The finished product will make your heart explode no matter what it looks like.
How to Make your own Preschool Valentine’s Day Craft
Gather supplies: Construction paper in different colors, markers and a glue stick. (Optional: Laminator if you are making a placemat.)
Step one: Have an adult write a cute Valentine’s greeting on the construction paper with a marker. Draw a large heart in the middle of the paper. This will be the area that you will glue paper on.
Step two: Together with your toddler, shred tiny pieces of paper. (Work on those fine motor skills!)
Step three: Have your toddler glue the pieces inside the heart. (More motor skills development) You will most likely have to glue a few pieces down to show your child and for the fact that toddlers lose interest quickly so this will help keep the focus.
Step Four: Allow the pieces to dry and if you wish laminate the paper to make the artwork become a durable placemat.
Reese had a good time making this craft. I was impressed on how particular she was in placing the pieces. She had an opinion for the location of each piece of paper.
