Thank you H-E-B for sponsoring today’s post and donating diapers to Hurricane Harvey families! All opinions are my own.
Lately, every time I change my son’s diaper all I can think about are the sweet babies that have been affected by the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey. Believe me, I change a lot of diapers on a daily basis so they are on my mind a lot.
Did you know a baby can go through 180-240 diapers a month? That’s a lot!
Originally, I wrote this blog post around “Ways to Save Money on Diapers and Wipes”.
While it’s an important topic, I found myself not being able to push publish.
All I could think about were parents that had to flee their house on a last minute notice with their children.
Some climbing frantically to the top of their roof while the water rushed through their beloved homes.
How do you make your children feel safe and secure while you wait to be rescued?
How can you grab the amount of diapers, wipes, and other baby essentials to last you hours, days, and weeks? You can’t.
My baby boy is dry, sleeping in his crib in our safe house. I can take cute photos of him in diapers while we both smile and laugh at each other without a care in the world.
Unfortunately, that is not the case for hundreds of families that are taking life day-by-day and have lost everything!
Knowing that many only have the clothes on their backs breaks my heart in a million little pieces.
Parenting is hard enough especially when kids are babies. To not have the essentials they need to thrive is unthinkable.
What can we do to help those that are less fortunate due to natural disasters? That is the question I asked H-E-B a day before my story was due. Without hesitation they sent me $100 to buy diapers to donate. I decided to match that donation by contributing to the Texas Diaper Bank fund.
I later dropped off the diapers and wipes to Harvest House, a non-profit organization collecting items for Hurricane Harvey families. They are doing great work!
It was a humbling experience to spend the time, money and effort to give. I am thankful to have sponsors like H-E-B that will step up when disaster strikes. Have you seen the mobile kitchens they sent to Houston? Simply amazing!
How you can help provide Hurricane Harvey relief with diapers
At the end of the day, I get to come home to a dry, warm house.
I get to capture fun, happy moments with my baby boy smiling in a diaper.
The families affected by Hurricane Harvey do not have that luxury.
Let’s work together to help them get back to their own safe and happy place wherever that may be.
