My mom gave me this chili Frito pie casserole recipe and it’s a hit! Everyone in our family craves this dish, especially for a quick winter meal. Easy to cook, delicious to eat and makes a ton of leftovers if it’s not all consumed at once. (Warning: It can be addicting and hard to put down!)
How to make a Chili Frito Pie Casserole
With a few ingredients, you can whip up this casserole dish in minutes.
Chili Casserole Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cans of Hormel tamales, save juice
- 1 can of Hormel Chili No Beans
- 2/3 – 3/4 of a bag of Fritos, Your preference
- Cheddar Cheese, sliced
Making Chili Casserole with Fritos is easy:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Spread onion in a 2 qt casserole dish
- Slice tamales over top and add the juice
- Add can of chili
- Crush Fritos over top
- Mix all ingredients together
- Add some water if you like your Frito Pie juicier
- Cook in the oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly
- Add sliced cheese over top and bake until melted
- Enjoy!
