Many of these events have pivoted as a result of the pandemic – changing the way they operate to maintain social distancing. Some that are listed are brand new events that are also doing what they can to make their patrons feel safe. Things to Do in Dallas this Fall
From pumpkin patches to foodie fun, North Texas has a variety of fun Fall things to do. Experience the best 2020 Fall events Dallas has to offer.
Gaylord Texan Goblins and Giggles
Gather your family and head to the Gaylord Texan Goblins and Giggles weekend event. This new family Halloween event occurs during the September and October weekends (September 11 through October 31, 2020).
Autumn at the Arboretum
Autumn at the Arboretum highlights the 15th year of the nationally-acclaimed Pumpkin Village, sponsored by Oncor, featuring four 20-foot-tall decorated pumpkin houses and creative displays fashioned from more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash. Held at the Dallas Arboretum, the favorite fall festival opens on September 19 and runs through November 1.
Dallas Pumpkin Farm
From September 26th through November 25th, Pumpkin Farm will offer visitors a chance to experience blossoming small green pumpkins right on the vine in the pumpkin patch, hayrides, a 6-foot hay maze, and a petting farm for a taste of the country life.
Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru
The Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru is a progressive Fair food experience on the grounds of the great State Fair of Texas. Visitors can drive through the grounds, which are decked out in State Fair style, picking up Fair food favorites along the way. At Big Tex Circle, visitors will park and exit their cars to have their annual pictures taken by a professional photographer. The experience will then continue with a drive along to Lagoon to pick up some of the sweeter offerings and have a bit of Midway fun! The entire experience should take approximately one to one and a half hours. Guests can bring a picnic set up and stop to eat in one of the fairground parking lots.
The Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch
Jan Balekian and The Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch invite you to join the fun each fall at the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch on the Double Oak Ranch. We are open from October 3rd through October 31st from 9am to 7pm. You will find hundreds of pumpkins to choose from, cornstalks, hay bales, baked goods, and refreshments!
Picnic tables are provided for individual use
There is a charge for parking $10.00 for Weekdays M-F $20.00 for Weekends Saturday and Sunday. ALL ACTIVITIES ARE FREE. Purchases are optional. Each season we feature Cartoon Character cutouts, a hay maze, a little train and hay rides. In addition a number of local vendors provide food for purchase.
Plano Food & Wine Walk
The Plano Food + Wine Festival will feature over 100 wines, food from delicious local restaurants, talented musicians, local artists, culinary demos from North Texas culinary experts, and many local boutiques and shops!
Rockwall Pumpkin Patch
Founded in 2011, the Blase Family Farm is a small urban farm with pick-your-own blueberries in the summer and Pumpkin Patch in the fall.
DriveBOO Halloween
A no contact, family-friendly Halloween event, situated in Downtown Dallas at the American Airlines Center Silver parking garage. Your family can enjoy a safe, contact-free spooky good time from the comfort of your own car. Give your kids a Halloween to remember, from circus thrills to Halloween icons.
The characters inside won’t touch your vehicle but be careful, thrilling good times lurk around every corner. Your kids can enjoy this event rain or shine. For those seeking a more traditional haunted house vibe, a VIP upgrade will give you access to the “top floor”, the less kid-friendly post-apocalyptic chaos, where the scares are a bit more intense.
Circo Metropolis - Pop-Up Circus Experience
Laughter League, along with Shakespeare Dallas, will bring Circo Metropolis, a pop-up circus experience on October 10-11 and October 17-18.
With social distancing in place, families can bring blankets, sit back and enjoy an afternoon of zaniness from the dynamic clown duo Slappy and Monday and their endearing circus friends.
Fort Worth Zoo: Boo at the Zoo Drive Thru
For the first time ever, Fort Worth Zoo is inviting guests to drive their own vehicle through the Zoo’s main path (and even several behind-the-scenes areas of some of their most popular animal exhibits) while enjoying music, costumed characters, entertainment, treats, and encounters with wildlife along the way! The event is Oct. 22 through 25, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
McKinney Oktober Bier Walk
At the McKinney Oktober Bier Walk, guests can enjoy strolling around the downtown McKinney square while tasting 20 unique Oktoberfest biers.
Hallowfest at Six Flags Over Texas
Gourd you loins, Six Flags is hosting a frightfully thrilling time at HALLOWFEST this year. These haunted experiences are happening every weekend between September 26 and November 1.
Bingham House Fall Festival - McKinney
Bingham House, a historic event venue steps from Downtown McKinney, invites you to enjoy our first Fall Family Festival! Guests can wander through the outdoor grounds, complete with a pumpkin patch and kid-friendly Hay Bale Maze, play yard games, listen to live music, savor delicious, fall-inspired foods and more.
During the event, Bingham House will feature apple cider, barbecue sliced brisket or pulled pork with slaw and chips, a caramel apple dipping station, caramel corn, grilled corn on the cobb, spiced nuts and s’mores. Adults can relax and enjoy beers or seasonal sips from the Spiked Cider Bar.
GentleZoo Pumpkin Patch
This pumpkin patch is located in Forney, TX. Tickets are $6 and include a train ride, giant maze, petting zoo and more! Pumpkin prices range from $1 - $40.
Mean Girls Movie-n-Brunch at Legacy Hall
Do you even go here? It’s October 3rd, duh, so put on your pink, grab some brunch, and join us for a Mean Girls movie screening! Tickets are required to maintain social distancing!
Dinosaurs LIVE! at The Heard Museum
Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s nature trails at the 15th annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-size Animatronic Dinosaurs exhibit. The exhibit always gives families and friends a fun, educational activity to enjoy together. See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar!
Movies at Klyde Warren Park
From blockbusters to animated favorites, from musicals to comedies, you won’t want to miss any of these fun, free, family-friendly flicks. The Wizard of Oz is set to play Saturday, October 3 and Ferris Bueller's Day Off on October 24th.
Trick 'r Treat Trains in Grapevine
Join the Grapevine Vintage Railroad on Saturday, Oct. 31 at either 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. for the Trick 'r Treat Train! Practice your trick-or-treat skills while in costume and enjoy treats. These trains do not travel to the Fort Worth Stockyards.
