Last weekend I had the parents in town and wanted to make something that they could munch on before our dinner. I thought back to a recipe that my college roommate and best friend would make on the fly. These easy sausage balls are delicious and fast to make. With only a few ingredients, this recipe is a definite crowd pleaser and leftovers can be easily frozen if you would like to enjoy them some other time.
These easy sausage balls do NOT include cream cheese, but I have heard some people love to include that in their recipe. I think it is perfect without the cream cheese. Then again, I haven’t met a recipe with cream cheese that I didn’t love.
Simply mix all the ingredients listed below in the recipe in one large bowl. Get your hands dirty and mix it that way. Warning: your hands will feel frozen, but you will get through it. Roll and knead the mixture into balls pictured below:
Bake at 385 degrees for approx. 40 minutes. Do watch them in the oven as they could easily burn if your oven is warmer than normal. Nothing is worse than burnt balls… okay, sorry, I could really crack some ball jokes, but I will stop while I am ahead. (How many times can I write the word ‘balls’ in a blog post without sounding dirty?)
At any rate, when they are finished they will need to cool for a second because they could be great balls of fire! Okay, last pun… I promise!
Like I said, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser and does well at family gatherings, showers, and game night gatherings. Have fun making sausage balls and let me know how they turned out!
