Like many families, cinnamon rolls are a classic Christmas breakfast item in our household. Not only are they delicious, but they are super easy to make. You can literally smell them baking throughout the house and oh, how I love the smell of baking. What better way to wake up on Christmas morning by eating delicious and unique cinnamon roll Christmas tree? So pretty, you may not want to eat it but your taste buds will force you to do so.

 Cinnamon Roll Christmas Tree

Are you excited to add something new to your holiday breakfast menu this season? My wish is that your family will thank you for making this sweet creation. Take it one step forward and get the entire family in on making their own Christmas tree made out of cinnamon rolls!

Making the stacked cinnamon roll Christmas tree is fun

Ingredients used to make this Christmas Tree breakfast dish

    • 1 can (12.4 oz) cinnamon rolls with icing

1/2 teaspoon colored sugar (You can make your own with food coloring or purchase the red & green sugar in the baking aisle)

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Separate dough into 8 rolls. Use kitchen shears to cut each roll into fourths.
  2. Shape each piece into a small ball and set on a cookie sheet. Place 10 balls in a single layer, clustered and touching together to form a round shape that looks like a layer of the Christmas Tree. Continue with by forming 8 balls, 6 balls, 4 balls, 3 balls, and one ball. You should have 6 layers total for your cinnamon roll holiday tree.
  3. Bake 8 – 10 minutes or until browned. Cool for 2 minutes. Meanwhile, transfer icing to a microwavable liquid measuring cup. Microwave uncovered on High 10 to 15 seconds or until pourable. I highly recommend 10 seconds because I made the mistake of doing it too long and it turned into mush.
  4. Use a spatula to transfer the largest layer to serving platter or cake plate. I suggest a small plate so it appears as the trunk or tree skirt.
  5. Drizzle a small amount of icing, then top with the next largest layer.  Repeat with all layers ending with a single ball. Drizzle remaining icing over the tree. After drizzling, immediately sprinkle with colored red and green sugar.

I know she is still with us in spirit by the little hints she gives us. If you look closely, Reese happened to bring downstairs a lovey my grandmother (her great-grandmother) gave her the first time they met. 👉🏻Swipe to see more. And, now I’m a crying mess, but in a good way. Keep sending those signs, grandmother 😘😘

Instagram post 17976236731290460 Today was one of the hardest days of my life. I said goodbye to one of the biggest cheerleaders in my life, my grandmother. Her laugh was infectious and she spoke loud and with her hands - something I do too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She told me Women can do anything! That I could do anything! When I first stated blogging years ago, one of my favorite posts was about a phone call we had that forever shaped my life.
Her message was clear: Stop and Smell the Roses. Forgive. Step outside your routine. Doesn’t sweat the small stuff. And for crying out loud: Have a sense of humor!
I will miss you and love you always, sweet Grandmother! 🌹 https://modernmomlife.com/stop-and-smell-the-roses/
Instagram post 17892232828433383 THROWBACK:: When I played with my DSLR camera and captured these photos. Sure, they aren’t the most advanced but I love everything about them. Seeing Christmas through the eyes of kids is one of life’s greatest joys. On the blog, I’m teaching you how to take your own photos in front of the tree with your camera. Capture these moments before time passes you by! (This was two years ago 😢😭) #LinkinProfile #babiesdontkeep #Christmasjoy #diyphotoshoot #diyphotography #ChristmasTrees
