Making the stacked cinnamon roll Christmas tree is fun
Ingredients used to make this Christmas Tree breakfast dish
- 1 can (12.4 oz) cinnamon rolls with icing
- 1/2 teaspoon colored sugar (You can make your own with food coloring or purchase the red & green sugar in the baking aisle)
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Separate dough into 8 rolls. Use kitchen shears to cut each roll into fourths.
- Shape each piece into a small ball and set on a cookie sheet. Place 10 balls in a single layer, clustered and touching together to form a round shape that looks like a layer of the Christmas Tree. Continue with by forming 8 balls, 6 balls, 4 balls, 3 balls, and one ball. You should have 6 layers total for your cinnamon roll holiday tree.
- Bake 8 – 10 minutes or until browned. Cool for 2 minutes. Meanwhile, transfer icing to a microwavable liquid measuring cup. Microwave uncovered on High 10 to 15 seconds or until pourable. I highly recommend 10 seconds because I made the mistake of doing it too long and it turned into mush.
- Use a spatula to transfer the largest layer to serving platter or cake plate. I suggest a small plate so it appears as the trunk or tree skirt.
- Drizzle a small amount of icing, then top with the next largest layer. Repeat with all layers ending with a single ball. Drizzle remaining icing over the tree. After drizzling, immediately sprinkle with colored red and green sugar.
