How to make the chalkboard mason jar craft
Chalkboard Mason Jar supplies
The simplicity of this DIY gift idea is in the few supplies it requires:
- Any size Mason Jar but I used a wider jar.
- Paintbrush
- Chalkboard Paint
- Red Ribbon
- Hot Glue or Glue Dots
- Jute
- Chalk
- Dry Erase Markers (Another option is to use pens, pencils or highlighters)
Chalkboard Mason Jar Craft Instructions
First, paint the outside of the Mason Jar with black chalkboard paint. Allow first coat to completely dry. We did not need to apply a second coat of chalkboard paint; However, you can paint a second coat if you think it requires such. If you can see through the paint into the jar, you need another coat of paint.
Next cut, ribbon long enough to cover the rim of the Mason Jar. Apply using a hot glue gun or strong glue dots to hold the ribbon in place.
Next, cut string or jute long enough to attach to the jar while being able to tie around a piece of chalk. The idea of the attached chalk is that it will allow the teacher to write on the mason jar. Next, fill the insides with dry-erase markers. I have heard that teachers can never have enough dry erase markers. Another option is to fill the mason jar with chalkboard markers, pens, pencils or highlighters.
This easy mason jar gift is finished and ready to bring a smile on a lucky teacher’s face. Consider gifting this with our Lottery Ticket Teacher gift or any of our teacher appreciation gifts.
