Disneynature’s Born in China drew me in and pulled at my heartstrings. The imagery and storytelling of this film was stunning. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this movie follows the lives of several animals, not just Pandas. (Although, let’s face it – I could watch Pandas play all day long!)
I enjoyed watching this film. I walked away wanting to go home and snuggle with my own family. The love between mother and child has no boundaries.
You can’t help but relate to the animals featured in the movie. The animals show that family is important, no matter who or what you are. The things a parent will do to protect their young!
I felt like I was sitting front row to watch nature unfold it it’s most intimate form.
(Tip: Stay to watch the credits for behind the scenes look at how the photographers are able to capture such magic on film.)
Is this movie for kids?
This documentary is rated G. If your kids love animals and can sit through live action films (not cartoons) they will enjoy this movie.
There are not graphic, fight scenes between animals that other nature documentaries have been known to show.
Disneynature has a great way of shielding it’s younger audience from the less celebratory moments that occur in nature. Adults will get it, but it may fly over the younger viewer’s heads.
Think the circle of life and the food chain process. (No spoilers here)
Kids and adults alike will definitely enjoy watching the fun that the monkeys get into.
Meet the Adorable Animals of Born in China
Mei Mei is a cuddly panda baby whose helicopter mother, Ya Ya has a hard time letting go. Who doesn’t love pandas?
Tao Tao, a Golden snub-nosed monkey, has a hard time to adjusting to his new found life when his new baby sister comes along. This sounds familiar in our world too!
Dawa, a beautiful snow leopard and her cubs adjust to surviving the different elements that each season brings to their environment. The way they glide and move through the mountains is entrancing to watch.
