Making a First Day of School Crayon Photo Frame is super easy and looks great in photos. It’s unique and different from the other First Day of School signs I made earlier this week. Packed with color, this photo prop is sure to look great.
When I made my crayon photo frame, I truly underestimated the number of crayons I would need. Scrambling last minute before my Back to School Facebook Live Event, I raided my daughter’s supplies and went next door to my neighbor’s house to do the same. Don’t let that happen to you. With enough time and prep, you too can have an adorable photo of your children on their first day back at school. Here’s how..
How to make a Back to School Crayon Photo Frame
Supplies
300 + Crayons. Consider ordering (2) of these crayon packs.
Hot Glue Gun with at least 6 mini glue sticks
Pencil
Optional – A 16in x 20 in/11 in x 14 in photo mat to trace onto the foam board (or you can eye ball it)
Instructions
Trace the outline of the photo mat onto the black foam board with a pencil.
Cut the foam board with an Exacto knife.
Start gluing the crayons onto the frame one by one until you have it completely framed.
Glue the alphabet stickers to say “1st Day” on the top. Continue with your child’s grade level on the bottom level. If your stickers are sticky enough you may not need to glue them down, but I did for extra security.
What do you think? I think it’s a very colorful way to take a few adorable photos of your children on their first day at school.
Special shout out to my model today. I obviously do not have a child in elementary school, so I had to recruit one with the permission of her lovely parents. Isn’t she precious?
I don’t want to think of my child is in 4th grade, but I know it will be here sooner than I think. My daughter and her other friend wanted in on the photoshoot so I simply couldn’t leave these cuties out.
Take this project one step further and consider making crayon photo frames for other projects throughout your home or on a bulletin board. One of my fabulous teacher friends made a border of her clock with crayons.
The options are endless. Enjoy and I can’t wait to see your back to school crayon photo frame with your sweet children!
You know that I have to share one more adorable picture of these cuties before I leave you. How can you not smile? Life is good!
