10 years… that is how long it’s taken for Avengers: Infinity War to arrive!
That’s also the amount of time I need to process what I saw yesterday during the Avengers: Infinity War movie screening.
My head is spinning trying to replay it all in my mind. This is definitely a film that warrants many views to fully absorb it all.
There are few movies that keep my interest the entire time, much less for two hours and 40 minutes. As the end credits rolled, I felt like time flew by – it’s that engaging.
None the less, here is my Avengers: Infinity War review that I hope will do justice just as the filmmakers have done to bringing the Marvel cinematic universe to life. Also, if you don’t want spoilers, you have come to the right place. However, if you do love spoilers I am sure you can find them online or private message me.
Know before you watch Avengers: Infinity War
Is Avengers: Infinity War for all ages?
This solely depends on what you allow your child to watch. Every family is different. My youngest kids would not enjoy this film. They are 11 months and 4 years old. However, my stepson who is sixteen is excited and will see it soon with my husband.
Reserve tickets now
You need to see this film sooner rather than later because SPOILERS!
This is a movie that deserves viewing with other people who are excited, surprised and invested in the story. I love watching movies with an excited and engaged audience who claps, gasps and cheers on our favorite superheroes in action. It’s an experience that happens organically in a movie theatre unlike home viewing.
Do your homework
Don’t worry this is fun homework. You need to watch a few Marvel movies or all if you have the time but let’s be real if you are a mom you probably don’t have time to watch all films in less than a few days. No Guilt Life has compiled three different Marvel Movie Lists that are easy to follow. There are a few Marvel movies you can get away with no seeing and still know what is going on. However, experience the full payoff of seeing all the stories come together, you will be glad you watched them all. It’s worth the long wait.
An Avengers: Infinity War Spoiler Free Review
Meetings of Epic Proportions
Part of the joy of watching Avengers: Infinity War is seeing our favorite characters from all the Marvel movies FINALLY met. With so many characters I feared all the stories would get lost and some wouldn’t shine as others. That being said, the Russo brothers did a great job of giving them all time to shine and making their stories, scenes and subplots easy to follow.
Of course some meetings are more hilarious and enjoyable than others, but for the most part every time the parties mixed together it was amazing to see unfold.
A Marvel movie wouldn’t be a Marvel movie without action, stunts, explosion and pure chaos. This film kept the Stunt and Special Effects department busy. There is no time to relax for everyone involved. It happens fast, so keep up and whatever you do stay in your movie seat. Do not drink a ton of water before this movie because you will not want to get up at any point in time. Every scene is pivotal and every line is important to foreshadowing and future possible hints. Again, I need to see it once more to catch details and Easter eggs I may have missed.
A rollercoaster of emotion
Much like Thor: Ragnarok, this installment delivers humor in between times of destruction and despair. In one breath I was laughing hysterically and in another I felt tears start to form. Expect the usual comics to be funny yet also show the human side of disappointment shine through. No one is safe and everyone is vulnerable in Avengers: Infinity War. In past Marvel movies I knew they were all safe no matter what. This film has a different feel. Go in knowing that. (That’s all I can say without spoiling…)
Meet the most complex villian ever
Movie goers finally met Thanos, whose goal is to wipe out half of the universe. In order to do that he needs all the Infinity Stones. Many villains in superhero movies are disliked and hated throughout the movie. We don’t really know why they are so bad other than a simple story. With Thanos, it’s more complicated. I found myself disliking him a lot but then as the movie progressed I started to understand why he is so complex and complicated. I still don’t like him but I think they did a great way of showing his emotion within the storyline. There are many layers to his story that are to be explored and interpreted by audiences. Kudos to the CGI team for capturing every emotion he has perfectly.
Stay until the very end and after the credits roll
Like every Marvel film there is an end credit scene that does not disappoint and gives clues to the next Marvel movie.
A desire to see it again
I have to see this film again. I will go back with my husband and stepson for many reasons. One to feel their excitement and hear what they think. Second, to catch things I may have missed during the first viewing. There is a lot going on!
Sign me up for time travel
Can someone please invent a time machine?
I need to see Avengers 4 (untitled) now!
I want more. I need more!
Patience is a true virtue because we will all have to wait until May 2019 when it is set to be released.
It’s been a ride I don’t want to end. Are you ready?
