I got the opportunity to test drive the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited thanks to DriveShop for an entire week. It was a week that changed my view and preconceived attitude of mini-vans. Never say never, because after our time ended, I found myself missing this one-of-kind vehicle that was more than a shuttle for hauling kids around town.
The all new Chrysler Pacifica isn’t your typical minivan. With so many innovate features and the smoothest drive I have experienced thus far, I would say this vehicle is ahead of it’s time and a bit ahead of my family make up. Even though I don’t have a slew of children to fill the third-row car, I have plenty of friends to drive around town.
Oh, let me count the ways the Chrysler Pacifica is changing the face of mini-vans.
Chrysler Pacifica Limited futuristic features don’t dissapoint
There are 13 cupholders in the Chrysler Pacifica. I can’t imagine needing all of them, but it was impressive none-the-less.
Third row sunroof
Usually the third row seating is nothing to brag about, but in this case anyone who sits in them can now look out the sunroof located directly above them. There is plenty of leg room in the back as well.
For those days when it’s raining cats and dogs, you can conveniently place your umbrella in it’s own designated spot. No more getting the flooring and seats wet.
Built in vacuum for life’s messes
Sadly, the model I was driving did not have the Stow ’n Vac™ in it. I sure could have used it too because without fail there are crackers that needed to be cleaned. Yes, I allow my kid to eat in the car. I choose sanity over cleanliness in this case.
Push of a button
Many of the features happen with a touch of a button. The doors slide open with a simple touch. No more slamming or jerking at the handle to get the door open. You can switch from Park to Drive by a turn of a knob.
Want the parking brake on? Simply push a button.
Desire cooler or warmer seats? A heated steering wheel? Push a button.
Want to turn on the lane keep option on? Tap a button.
Annoyed that the headrests are up in the third row with no kids in tow? You guessed it… push a button and they fold down instantly.
So simple, you could almost say the car can drive it self. Some day…
When you think minivan, you don’t necessarily think amazing sound system with incredible bass. That’s where we are all wrong. This sound system was top-notch. So what, I turned up my old school music and took this ride around town sans kid. I couldn’t help myself.
In addition to the pumping music, there are two flat screen televisions that allow the 2nd row passengers to watch any DVD or play games. They can individually plug in their own headphones to allow them the privacy to listen while others can listen to the radio or a movie of their own. When the car is in park, the front row passengers can also watch the movie on the dashboard.
Comfort and style
The great thing about this car is that it has SO much room. We could’ve fit one more friend in if we wanted while we were driving around town. For the driver, it doesn’t feel like you are driving a bus.
With all the added seats and rows, storage is sometimes comprised to allow for more space for the riders. That is not the case here. The back of the Pacifica provides deep storage and grocery hooks to keep your precious produce and foods in place. Nothing is worse than getting home to discover your canned goods crushed your bread and eggs. (Hopefully the lane keep option is on to keep you from veering into other lanes!)
If you need more storage and less room for riders, the Standard Stow ’n Go® Seating and Storage System makes it possible. The seats can collapse and fold underneath to allow for more room in the back for seeking life’s adventures.
Overall, my time with the Chrysler Pacifica was wonderful. With a starting MSRP of $28,595, this family vehicle isn’t out of reach for those on a budget.
With so much space, luxury, and entertaining options the Chrysler Pacifica is perfect for a long road trip with family and friends or for making a quick trip to the grocery store with cranky kids who are ‘bored’. My girlfriends couldn’t wait to jump aboard to experience the new face of the mini-van.
The boredom ends the second you step foot in the all new Chrysler Pacifica. Test drive one today at your local Chrysler dealership. I promise it may change your mind about the mini-van.
