It’s January in Texas. Usually, that means cold weather and even a chance to snow. It’s been quite the month. We have had a mixture of everything in the last two weeks: hot, cold, snowflakes, and back to warm weather.
I bring this up because I felt weird making a snowman craft when I am literally sweating in my jeans. Perhaps, we are skipping winter this year.
Either way, I refuse to skip the cute winter crafts for kids.
With a few Halos and craft supplies, my daughter and I made an adorable DIY mandarin snowman that is cute as a button.
How to make a DIY Mandarin Snowman Craft
Craft Supplies
2 Halos mandarin oranges
Glue Dots or Glue Gun with glue
Permanent black marker
(2) Blue Pom-Poms
3 white Buttons
Instructions
Place one Halos mandarin on top of another. Hot glue them together.
Once secure, lay the body of the snowman down.
Glue googly eyes on the top mandarin. Cut a triangle out of orange felt for the nose; glue below the eyes.
Using a black permanent marker draw the mouth under the nose.
Glue 2 or 3 white buttons in a row on the bottom mandarin.
Next, cut a long piece of blue felt paper to resemble a scarf. Cut the ends to add some fray. Tie around the neck of the snowman.
Now, make the earmuffs by cutting a piece of blue pipe cleaner that is long enough to cover the top of the orange. Glue a blue pom-pom on both ends of the pipe cleaner. Then, glue to attach to the head of the snowman.
Last, cut brown pipe cleaners short enough to be the snowman’s arms. Cut two smaller pieces and twist on the long piece to resemble fingers.
Glue the arms on the back of the snowman. Let dry and say hello to your new DIY Mandarin Snowman friend.
Isn’t he adorable?
Given that I crave oranges and citrus during this pregnancy it’s amazing I didn’t eat the mandarins during this project. Don’t worry, I had a few on the side.
Tell me, when is the last time you made a kids craft with fruit? ‘Orange’ you glad you ran across this fun project? (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)
