I received complimentary admission to Aqua-Tots Swim Schools in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
Summer is rapidly approaching! For my family that means being out at the pool more often and playing in the water. Although I anticipate plenty of fun in the Texas sun, I want to make sure that we all practice water safety. Within seconds, tragedy can strike at the pool, lake or water park and unfortunately, drowning can occur.
According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drowning ranks 5th among the leading causes of unintentional deaths in the United States.
I absolutely do not want my children to be a statistic. That’s why it’s important that my children learn how to swim, float and recognize the important of water safety.
That’s why I decided to enroll her into swim lessons at our Aqua-Tots Swim Schools before the Summer began. I was worried that we may have waited too long with her being four, but the staff assured me this was the perfect time to start swim lessons.
Four Reasons to Love Aqua-Tots Swim Schools
The mission of Aqua-Tots is to prevent drowning by working within the community to provide a standard of excellence in teaching adults and children water safety.
Dedicated Swim Instructors
Every instructor goes through 40+ hours of classroom and water training. The student to instructor ratios has been low for us. After each class the instructor rates my daughter’s progress and communicates that to us. My daughter has started in the Level 4 Seahorses class but will soon progress to the Level 4 Starfish class.
Something for everyone
There are group lessons with 4 students to 1 instructor, semi-private and private lessons. There are parent & tot classes for those younger than 30 months. They also offer speciality classes for adults and those with special needs. There are special events, Swim Club and Swim Team.
Multiple class times are available (mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends) to accommodate the busy schedules of our families. Aqua-Tots offers a convenient, flexible Make-Up Policy when a lesson needs to be rescheduled. We have had to reschedule a few due to illness and scheduling conflicts.
I love that Aqua-Tots offers a clean, safe, and family friendly teaching environment. The water is always 90 degrees so the swimmers can be comfortable no matter what the weather is like outside. Parents can watch their children’s progress as it happens behind a glass barrier that isn’t distracting.
The main focus of Aqua-Tots is safety. Their curriculum helps children learn to swim and develop a life-long love of swimming. They encourage their students to stop and think around the water to lower the risk of unintentional drowning. The lessons are designed to keep families safe around the water and to provide the lifesaving skill of swimming.
We have been pleased with my daughter’s experience this far. She will be heading into her third month of swim lessons. Every week she looks forward to her lessons and isn’t scared to get into the water. I look forward to seeing her float and swim independently. I know we are close to getting there. Most importantly, I am pleased she is learning about water safety.
Next step is enrolling myself and little man into the parent-tot classes. This will be his first Summer to dip into the water as well. Stay tuned for our experience.
