If you are looking for unique treats to serve guests during basketball watch parties, look no further. OREO Basketball Lollipops and Coca-Cola Zero™ make the perfect pair to celebrate any big game. Make basketball game day parties and get-togethers a success with the help of Coke Zero and OREOS.
How to make OREO Basketball Lollipops
Stock up on Coca-Cola Zero™ & Double Stuf OREOS (Can purchase both items at your local Albertsons). Believe me you will need the Coke Zero to get through baking. Makes it more enjoyable for me anyways… Plus, it contains zero calories so you don’t have to feel bad about enjoying a soda.
OREO Basketball Lollipops Supplies
First, place candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Make sure you follow the instructions on the back or you can use this method for thinner candy coating. I highly recommend thinning the candy melts with shortening or coconut oil to make it easier to spread on the cookies.
Some say you can dip the OREOs in the melt and coat it front and back. I found that method to be challenging, so I used an Oreo Cookie Mold made specifically for coating cookies in candy melts. I spooned the candy coating at the bottom of each slot then dropped a cookie on top of it.
Then, I poured the candy mixture on top of the cookie until completely covered. (Sorry, I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of that process because I was trying to fend off a toddler and a dog. I can only do so much multi-tasking!)
Completely cover the cookies with the candy coating – don’t be scared!
Place cookie tray in a freezer until cookies are completely solid.
Once they are solid, pop each cookie out and set aside. Now, place the lollipop stick in the center of each OREO in the filling portion. Be careful inserting the Lollipop sticks as the OREO could crack with too much force.
With a steady hand, draw the basketball artwork using black decorating icing. Draw a cross and two half circles on each side to get the basketball symbol. It does not have to be perfect! Believe me, if I can make it look somewhat good, I know you can!
