“The days are long, but the years are short.”
I heard this before I had a baby and didn’t really pay attention to it much.
Looking back on my baby’s first year – it makes perfect sense.
Some days were longer than ever. Some days, especially in the early months, I did not think I was cut out to be a mom.
I had wanted to be a mom for the longest time, but once I got the job it did not come as easily as I thought. I cried, I laughed, I cried some more, and then everything just “clicked”. Seeing her change and grow daily is amazing. Her bond that she has with her brother, dad, her amazing sitter, grandparents, aunts, uncles and even Dax make it all worth it.
Everything has happened so quickly. How soon I have forgotten about endless weeks of sleep deprivation and hours of non stop pumping and washing dishes.
Her clothes keep getting bigger and bigger (not much though because she is on the tiny side).
Our wallets may get smaller and smaller from all the cute girl clothes I keep buying, but our hearts are bigger than ever.
I look forward to what the next year brings and all it’s toddler glory! Here’s to both of us for surviving (and enjoying) the first year!
